In this workshop, we will explore the neurobiology of the gut – the microbiome as well as the Enteric Nervous System and the Gut Associated Lymphoid Tissue. We will discuss bitters, carminatives, anti-inflammatories, antispasmodics, lymphatic decongestants, and fermented foods to improve digestion, support mood, enhance immunity and even possibly balance appetite.

We'll cover using a handful of common herbs for common family ailments, basic preparations, and tools we don't even remember to count in our toolbox, such as sleep.

Future Ecology
with Chris Rice
Scientists now estimate that, at our current trajectory, we are about 16 years from climatological disaster. In spite of this startling fact, very little is being done at the government or corporate level to enact change in infrastructure to help save ourselves from this environmental impact. But the natural world is always working towards a place of homeostasis. With nature's assistance, there are a number of practical changes we can make to help both the planet and ourselves. Learn more about these outside of the box ideas incorporating the plant and fungi kingdom in this class.
Daily Doshic Care and Home Herbalism
with Sophia Avramides
This workshop will combine the classic wisdom of Ayurvedic self-care while honoring the positioning of ourselves in the Northeast. We will define what a self-care practice looks like for ourselves, with our unique constitutions, and our unique preferences. Intention: How can we can balance body, mind, senses and spirit, in a Vedic way, through New-England based herbs?
Bless This Earth: An Outdoor Gathering for Everyone

Come join Claire in honoring the Earth and our hearts through gathering together pieces of nature to make a sacred mandala. Each person will connect with a special fallen piece in nature, and share this to assemble a greater whole. Together, each piece will take on a greater meaning. We will have time to draw, reflect and write in exploration of the special meaning behind what we have chosen and how we fit in with the greater whole. Bring a sketchpad, if you wish!

Cooking with Cannabis
with Jan Blackstone
Cooking with cannabis is a fascinating art that can be approached by any curious chef or grower. Two factors are at work - as cannabis becomes more accepted and available we have more ways to consume it without smoking, and for the gastronomic world we have an incredible ingredient that can interact with any cuisine. The four eras of cooking with cannabis will be presented and the current state of affairs highlighted. Liquid infusions are another form of cooking that will be explored. Medical patients and recreational users can both benefit from these techniques. The participants will leave with a solid understanding of the basic theory and practice of cooking with cannabis in their own kitchens, along with several starter recipes.
The Power of Common Plants
with Kate Laurel
Some of our strongest herbal allies grow all around us. Dandelion bursts through concrete, plantain sprouts beneath our path. This workshop will focus on herbs that are abundant and accessible, most likely found right in our backyards! Empower yourself to use the medicine that's all around you. Enjoy a plant walk to help identify the plants discussed!
Herbs & Pharmaceuticals: When to Hold ‘Em & When to Fold ‘Em
with Dr. Sarah Byrne
In this class, we will address how to become more empowered in your traditional medical care. As an Integrative Family Physician, I have witnessed where herbs and home remedies are more effective than Western Medical offerings. We will discuss practical herbal solutions to common symptoms such as IBS, cough, sinusitis, anxiety, and insomnia, as well as when it makes sense to consult your doctor. Class will include a simple exercise in health intuition.
Plant Spirit Medicine & Holistic Garden Design
with Lauren Almquist & Ruth Roudiez
How do we interact with plants? How do we interact with the land where we grow food, herbs, and medicine? In this class we'll explore how being in conscious relationship with plants as medicine overlaps with holistic garden design. The permaculture ethics of "care for the earth, care for people, and give back" can inform how we design our landscapes and how we nourish ourselves, collectively. Experiencing ourselves as part of nature rather than separate from it opens up pathways to healing and transformation.
Holistic Movement Skills for Herbalists
with Ryn Midura & Katja Swift
In this hybrid class, you'll find out why integrating movement into your holistic health plans is just as critical as eating nutritious food, getting restful sleep, and managing stress. In the first half of class, Ryn will share effective strategies for "formulating" a movement plan for yourself, your clients, or those you care for. Forest bathing hikes, dynamic home and work environments, efficient exercise plans, and constitution-based movement recommendations will all be discussed. And of course, herbal allies to enable and enhance movement practices will be covered, too! In the second half, we'll practice some simple, natural movements together: getting up from the ground, crawling, balancing, lifting, jumping... With a few pointers, you can improve your efficiency and confidence in moving through the world. (Wear comfortable clothing, and come prepared to move! Bodies of all shapes, sizes, and abilities are enthusiastically welcome!)

Circling the Year: Creating a Green Calendar
with Krystina Friedlander
Circular time traces our path through the cycle of annual seasons, marked by the solstices and equinoxes. Circular calendars are used to track ourselves through the cycle of a solar year, and represent an entirely different way of thinking about time than linear calendars. In this class, participants will create circular calendars that we will use to organize our interactions with the natural world around us, including the changing seasons, appearance and changes in plants around us, the planting/growth/harvest in our gardens, our medicinal preparations and uses of plants, and our emotional responses to all of these things. Participants are invited to consider ways to use these calendars to deepen their intimacy with the natural world, to pay closer attention, and to notice the impacts of climate change, and other influences, in their immediate environments.
Plant Immersion: Technique and Practice
with Tony(a) Lemos
Plant Immersions offer a different way of seeing that bridges worlds and gives glimpses into other ways of being, or should we say, other being’s ways. During this workshop, we will learn the process of sensorizing* with a plant and allowing our senses be the entry point for understanding and connecting with the plant.
Flower Essences, Meditation and Intuitive Art Creation
with Leah Constantz
The world of flower essences is quite exciting! Flower essences can help people on a physical, emotional and spiritual level, and I've particularly found them to help foster creativity and help me dig deeper into meditation. As an Expressive Arts Therapist and a Flower Essences Practitioner, I am eager for you to experience the culmination of flower power and creative expression. Join me in exploring flower essences that can be used as creative catalysts, for a guided meditation and intuitive art creation process. No experience with flower essences or art making required- just come with a curious mind and an open heart!

Working with Plant Allies and the Energy Body
with Jillian Twisla
So much of modern medicine, including modern herbalism, ignores the energy body. Yet the energy body is the foundation for our physical makeup, and governs our baseline for wellness. In my consultation practice, I have found that the greatest healing occurs when I am able to identify disease or damage in the energy body, and introduce a plant ally that is suited to help bring about a shift in that pattern, belief and function. Plant spirits are excellent allies for this process because they are able to guide healing and to model patterns of health. In this class we will overview the energy body in the framework of the chakras, and discuss how patterns of wellness and unwellness manifest in the physical. From there we will draw alignments with plants that have specific affinities for some common energy pictures and wounds, and overview how to work with this information on a practical level.
2:00pm - 4:30pm:
Clinical Skills for Herbalists
with Katja Swift & Ryn Midura
To work effectively as a clinical herbalist, you need to know more than your materia medica. Asking the right questions, sifting out the most relevant information, and putting together a plan that meets the client's needs are all essential aspects of the work. An organized approach to intake, interview, protocol development, and follow-ups will make you more effective and efficient in the service of your clients. We'll even address questions of legality and scope of practice. If you're interested in seeing clients (or already are), you don't have to start from scratch - learn from our experience and skip some common mistakes!

10:00am - 12:30am:
Heart Mind Integration Healing
with Tommy Priester
Understanding the subconscious terrain is most important if one wants to heal on any level. This class will help students to see -- perhaps for the first time -- how to actually transform specific blocks to healing and begin manifesting the life you want to live. Healing these blocks allows us to more fully step into our true path and be truly present in all situations, responding as Self vs. reacting from our defenses. This class will provide students with the tools that are necessary to support higher consciousness and presence.
2:00pm - 4:30pm:
Nettle as a Guide to Sacred Sexuality
with Anna Cohen & Elise Bish
Nettles are sexy! Nourishment, sensation, stimulation, taste, resource, boundaries, pain, and pleasure - there is so much this plant has to teach us about sacred sexuality. In this workshop, Anna Booth Cohen of Flowering Thistle Herbalism and Desire Catalyst Elise Bish, co-founders of Earth Eros Embodied, join forces to explore sacred sexuality through the spirit of the nettle. Learn how the teachings of this plant can be applied to fostering a connected, embodied, nourished, empowered relationship with your sexuality.
